A Sherman County man faces 11 counts of sexual assault, child abuse and incest, while a woman is charged with six counts of aiding and abetting.

According to Sherman County Court records, the man is charged with assault by strangulation, terroristic threats, three counts of first-degree sexual assault of a child, one count of third-degree sexual assault of a child, incest, child abuse, unlawful intrusion, possession of a visual depiction of sexually-explicit conduct and manufacturing a visual depiction of sexually-explicit conduct.

The woman is charged with three counts of aiding and abetting first-degree sexual assault of a child, one count of aiding and abetting third-degree sexual assault of a child, aiding and abetting incest, and aiding and abetting child abuse.

Court records say that in May, a Sherman County Sheriff’s Deputy received a report from a minor that a 16-year-old girl was involved in a sexual relationship with the man. During a preliminary interview with the 16-year-old girl, she told the deputy she was involved in a relationship with the man since she was 14 and that they had sex three to four times a week. The girl reported she was subjected to multiple sexual assaults by the man.

After the man was arrested on May 3, an investigator with the Sherman County Sheriff’s Office said in an affidavit that the woman initially denied knowledge of a sexual relationship between the girl and the man. The investigator said a search of the man’s and the girl’s phones discovered conversations that indicated she was aware of the sexual relationship.

Court records say during a forensic interview conducted in the course of the investigation, a boy reported the man grabbed him by the throat, picked him up and threw him across the kitchen floor, causing him to hit his back on a wall. Two other minor children said they witnessed the incident.

The woman is currently out of jail after posting a 10 percent bond in the amount of $10,000. She is scheduled to appear in Sherman County Court at 9 a.m. June 15.

The man is scheduled to appear in Sherman County Court at 2:30 p.m. June 15.
