COLLINSVILLE, Okla. (KOKH) — Chance Jennings Daykin, a 26-year-old man, was convicted of uploading and possessing child pornography depicting children of 12 years old and younger.

He was sentenced to serve 14 years, followed by a lifetime of supervised release. Daykin pleaded guilty to distribution and receipt of a visual depiction of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct, as well as pleading guilty to the possession of child pornography. He also admitted to knowingly accessing the content with intent to view child pornography.

Daykin had been distributing and receiving child sexual abuse materials since Dec. 2019 until Oct. 2020. Investigators obtained a search warrant for Daykin's IP address based off a cyber-tip that was sent to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that reported Dropbox uploads. On Oct. 19, 2020, the Roger's County Sherriff's Office executed their search warrant and arrested Daykin.

It was later discovered in an online conversation that Daykin was bragging that he had access to children and recently bathed a 7 year old and then sexually abused her. Investigators, however, were not able to substantiate this claim. Further images recovered on the Daykin’s electronic devises included bestiality and the rape of infants and prepubescent children. One image depicted an infant either dead or seriously injured, having been sexually abused.

In one instance on Dropbox, Daykin shared links and asked, “Got any kids screaming? Those are hard to find.” Upon his arrest, Daykin admitted he had a problem with child pornography and had previously sought treatment. During his sentencing hearing, Daykin's attorney reminded the court that while the communications Daykin was having was wrong and indeed disturbing, the conversations recovered were a lot of talk that "never left the desktop." He also pointed out that Daykin was accepting responsibility of his actions, his lack of criminal history and the fact that Daykin had a long-term difficulty with socializing.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Julie Childress countered Daykin's attorney, arguing that he was aware of his actions and they were not by mistake. She argued that his actions showed an escalating, predatory sexual interest in the rape and murder of minors. She also made light to the fact that Daykin had gone as far as downloading software to conceal his lewd actions.

Ultimately, Childress pressed for a length sentence, saying it would allow Daykin to get the long-term treatment that he needed to help with his addiction. “Chance Daykin accessed the dark web to feed his child pornography habit,” said Acting U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson. “He uploaded child pornography, viewed pedophile instruction books, and discussed with others online how to obtain children to rape and murder. Thanks to the work of the Rogers County Sheriff’s Office and federal prosecutors Julie Childress and Chris Nassar, Daykin will serve the next 14 year in federal prison.”
