A three-year-old girl was the victim of an accident that caused burns to 54% of her body. The incident occurred in a restaurant in Florencio Varela, Buenos Aires, when an employee tripped and spilled boiling oil on her. "Briana is in very bad shape, her face is completely burned", lamented Graciela, her mother.

According to the woman's account, Briana got up from the table to go to the bathroom and crossed paths with the employee who was coming out of the kitchen and tripped over the minor. "She was carrying a frying pan with boiling oil and it tipped over on her," she recounted in anguish. In addition, Graciela recalled her desperation at the negligence of the restaurant's employees and owners to attend to the minor who was screaming in pain.

The harsh story of Briana's mother, the girl burned in Florencio Varela

In an interview with El Trece, Briana's mother told that at first those in charge of the restaurant "threw a bucket of cold water" on the child and placed her in the restaurant's refrigerator to try to cool her from the burns. She also said that a couple who were having lunch at the restaurant called an ambulance that never arrived. "We were taken by a patrol car because no one came," he lamented.

Meanwhile, the girl was taken by the police to the Hospital Mi Pueblo de Florencio Varela where she was given initial treatment. However, due to the seriousness of her injuries, she had to be taken to the Children's Hospital of La Plata, after the Hospital de Quemados could not find a bed to admit her.

"Her face, neck and arms are all burned, it breaks my heart to see her like this", said Graciela, and indicated that although the girl's main vital signs are out of danger, she has a fever and the only thing she wants is to be taken home. She also indicated that there is a possibility that her daughter may need a skin transplant surgery if she does not evolve favorably.

Solidarity for Briana

In view of this possible scenario, the woman, who is the mother of another child and is four months pregnant, appealed for solidarity to cover the medical expenses involved in Briana's recovery, considering the delicate economic situation of her family, whose only breadwinner is her husband, a bricklayer.

In tears, Briana's mother said that on that day she "wanted to give her daughter a treat" after she accompanied her to do some paperwork: "Once a month I take her to eat a hamburger and fries because she likes it, and I took her all burnt", she pointed out, and said that although they offered her money, what she wants most of all is "health" for her daughter. "I want her to survive, she has eleven percent deep burns on her face, neck and arms", she said.

Finally, Graciela emphasized the "abandonment of person" she felt on the part of those responsible for the restaurant. "They still did not communicate with me, they did not even apologize," Graciela stressed. For her part, she assured that she was told that the cook responsible for the accident "disappeared" and they cannot locate her.
