WALKER COUNTY, Ga. — A Walker County man will spend the rest of his life in prison after a jury convicted him of molesting a 'very intelligent and articulate' child over an 8-year period, according to Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney Chris Arnt.

The jury took little time to convict Wesley Lebron Romine for rape, aggravated sexual battery, aggravated sodomy, aggravated child molestation, sexual battery against a child and child molestation.

Prosecutors told the jury that the girl shared Snapchat photos to her father that depicted Romine touching her in inappropriate ways.

The child, now 13, testified in court that she had taken the photos of Romine molesting her because she was afraid no one would believe her without them. Arnt described the victim as "very intelligent and articulate."

Two other women, who are now adults, also testified about their abuse by Romine.

"Even though it had been well over thirty years since this defendant last molested them, both of these witnesses broke down in tears when describing their abuse at the defendant’s hands," Arnt says.

After the jury reached their guilty verdict, one of the family members said, "We can now have closure and know that someone finally believed us."

Judge Don W. Thompson sentenced Romine to 5 consecutive life sentences, followed by 63 years, without the possibility of parole.
