BRIDGEPORT, Neb. — A Bridgeport man has been ordered to pay a $500 fine for failing to report child abuse.

According to Morrill County Court records, Juan Sanchez, 22, was ordered to the pay the fine and sentenced to two days in jail. He was given credit for the two days already served.

An affidavit detailing the charges has been sealed.

According to the Nebraska State Patrol, investigators working with the Morrill County Sheriff’s Office arrested Sanchez and Brooke Stuart, 24, of Bridgeport, in March as part of an ongoing investigation into a report of child abuse in Morrill County.

The incident was first reported in February to the Morrill County Sheriff’s Office and NSP was requested to investigate.

NSP said the three-year-old victim suffered multiple injuries, including bruising, swelling and lacerations.

Stuart is facing one count of child abuse.

He is scheduled to appear in Morrill County District Court for arraignment on June 7.
