MILL SPRING—The Polk County Sheriff’s Office arrested two people in Mill Spring on child abuse and drug charges following a disabled child abuse investigation.
Michael Shannon Arrowood, of 6370 Highway 108 East, Mill Spring, was arrested and charged with assault on an individual with disabilities, two counts of child abuse, trafficking heroin, possession with intent to sell/deliver heroin, possession with intent to sell/deliver methamphetamine, sell methamphetamine, maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to sheriff’s office reports.
Christine Elizabeth Braly, also of 6370 Highway 108 East, Mill Spring, was arrested and charged with trafficking heroin, possession with intent to sell/deliver heroin, possession with intent to sell/deliver methamphetamine, maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting a public officer and child abuse, according to sheriff reports.
The arrest occurred on Thursday, April 29 after investigators with the county’s special operations division, criminal investigation division and patrol deputies executed arrest warrants and a search warrant at the residence. The sheriff’s office already had arrest warrants on Arrowood for assault on an individual with disabilities and child abuse, which stemmed from an investigation by Polk County School Resource officers.
During the search, investigators recovered trafficking amounts of heroin/fentanyl and methamphetamine, according to the sheriff’s office.
“This was a horrific situation that was uncovered and swiftly dealt with because of the teamwork between our divisions,” said Polk County Sheriff Tim Wright. “Our school resource deputies and investigators from CID and special operations and patrol deputies did an outstanding job coming together to take illegal drugs and a suspected child abuser off the streets.”
Arrowood was booked in the Polk County Detention Center under an $84,000 bond and Braly was booked under a $46,000 bond.
