Erick Michael Edmondson was arrested on May 6 in two separate child sexual abuse cases.

Stillwater Detective Mary Kellison wrote in the probable cause affidavit that Edmondson was arrested because a 12-year-old made a report of a sexual assault.

SPD Officer Dusty Behne responded to Stillwater Medical to take the report, and shortly after he arrived, the Criminal Investigation Division responded, the affidavit said.

The minor had a forensic interview at the Saville Center for Child Advocacy on May 6, where the child told Holly Chandler what had happened.

The affidavit said the child admitted they felt uncomfortable and scared and didn’t know what to do while it was happening. The child told Chandler that Edmondson kept saying sorry but continued to commit sexual acts on the child.

The affidavit said the child had a Sexual Assault Examination, which resulted in Brandi Watts’s finding “micro lacerations and abrasions” on the child.

Detective Newly McSpadden interviewed Edmondson. He alleged that Edmondson admitted to the assault and that he was “sorry and wished this never happened, and he wanted me to tell her that he loved her,” McSpadden said.

Edmondson appeared for his initial court appearance on May 19, where he applied for Indigent Defense. Jodie Gage was appointed as his counsel.

Edmondson is scheduled on the preliminary hearing docket on June 6.

Stillwater police investigating shooting with no new information released

The Stillwater Police Department is still investigating the fatal shooting on April 14 in downtown Stillwater. One man has been arrested and charged, but SPD said they are still following up on leads.

SPD Lt. Cody Manuel said, “We are still investigating the case. and whenever we are completed with the investigation, the case will be presented to the DA’s Office, who will then decide if there are any additional charges.”

Darren Joseph Bacchus was charged with first-degree murder or the alternative of first-degree manslaughter. At his last court appearance, Judge Katherine Thomas denied his request for bail, and he remains in the Payne County Jail.

Bacchus’ lawyer told the court a man called friends the day of the shooting and intended for the fight to happen. SPD said they aren’t releasing information on who was involved in the fight that led up to the shooting or if they have arrested anyone in connection to the initial assault.

“The reason we cannot answer that particular question is because we are still investigating the case,” SPD Chief Jeff Watts said.

“Once all has been presented to the DA’s Office, then we may be able to answer more.”
