Education Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones has instructed the Regional Director of DepEd Central Luzon to immediately investigate a viral Tiktok video of a certain teacher allegedly insinuating a potential child abuse action.

Briones said that the male teacher will be meted with appropriate sanctions.

She stressed that the Department of Education (DepEd), as an institution trusted to protect the rights of every Filipino learner, does not tolerate any forms of abuse towards children.

“We remind our teachers and non-teaching personnel to always subject our words and actions, including our social media activities, to the highest degree of ethical and professional standards,” Briones said.
As teachers and public servants, she stressed, they must always champion a safe and nurturing learning environment for children, where physical, verbal, sexual, and other forms of abuse and discrimination are renounced.

‘As we celebrate the National Children’s Month, DepEd will continue to strengthen its policies and capacity-building activities to further promote our advocacy of protecting our learners against abuse,” Briones vowed.
