Detectives from the WA Police child abuse squad are investigating the horror incident, which took place some time between when the child was put to bed in the evening on Boxing Day and the following morning.

A police statement said the young girl “went to bed as normal” on December 26, before she “disclosed to her parents that she had been sexually assaulted during the night” on the morning of December 27.

It is believed the predator behind the shocking incident gained access to the girl — while she was sleeping in her bed — via a window, with police now searching for a missing flyscreen.

The child’s pyjama top has also not been found.

Forensic officers, police from the mounted section and drone operators are scouring bushland in Ellenbrook for the missing items as well as anything else that could assist them in hunting down the young girl’s alleged abuser.

The area they are searching is bordered by Tonkin Highway, The Broadway and The Promenade.

Investigators would like to speak to anyone who has seen the child’s missing pyjama top or the flyscreen allegedly taken from the Ellenbrook home and anyone with dash cam or CCTV vision from this area between Sunday night and Monday morning.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online.
