A Berrimah man has been arrested for having child abuse material, after a home was searched and computers seized, NT Police have said.

Detective Acting Sergeant Maree Scott said in a statement police arrested the 29-year-old man after they searched a Berrimah home on August 22, seizing two computers, and a date storage device.

On Friday, she said, detectives from the Joint Anti-Child Exploitation Team arrested him, and he has since been charged with three counts of using a carriage service to access child abuse material.

She said he was remained in custody and was due to appear before Darwin Local Court on Monday.

“This type of behaviour is completely unacceptable,” Sgt Scott said, “The investigation shows the importance of multi-agency operations working together to apprehend those in our community who pose a serious risk to those vulnerable in our community.”

Police said anyone who had information about people involved in child abuse and exploitation could call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or NT Police on 131 444.
