A man is being charged with assault and child abuse after he allegedly threatened a 12-year-old boy and man known to him at Village Pantry in Mangilao, according to court documents.
On June 12, police officers responded to a disturbance at the store. Faustino Atuput, also known as "Fostin Aty," "Mars Eme," and several other aliases, had a knife and gestured it toward the child, according to a magistrate's complaint filed in Superior Court.
The boy's relative then placed a shopping cart in between the child and Atuput.
Atuput then threatened the man, saying he would kill him, according to court documents.
Early that morning, the child notified police that Atuput had punched him in the stomach, the complaint stated.
Officers later found Atuput walking on the street near the store and they noted that he appeared to be intoxicated. They also found a knife tucked into the front of his pants, according to court documents.
He is being charged with:
- Two counts of assault as a misdemeanor.
- Child abuse as a misdemeanor.
- Public drunkenness as a violation.
