Andrew was hiding away at Balmoral, his mother’s Scottish estate, in a bid to avoid being served legal papers, and didn’t get to meet the newborn girl until nearly two weeks after she was born, The UK Sun reported.
Princess Beatrice, who held off on announcing her infant daughter’s name until after the child met her grandfather, brought the little one to meet him in Windsor Friday, the outlet said.
“He is very much aware Beatrice’s special moment was ruined by the accusations against him,” a source told the outlet.
Sienna Elizabeth Mapelli Mozzi, Beatrice’s first child with developer husband Edo Mapelli Mozzi, was born in London.
Andrew didn’t emerge from Balmoral until Thursday, when he finally accepted legal service of papers in the litigation brought against him by Virginia Roberts Giuffre, who claims the prince had sex with her when she was under 18 at the behest of pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
Andrew has long denied the allegations.
Meanwhile, sources told the outlet Andrew had “the time of his life” at a party hosted by Epstein in Manhattan in 2010. The shindig was apparently billed as a chance to meet Andrew ahead of the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, sources claimed to The Sun.
